Last stop – Sanur Beach

I was glad I chose to stay in Bali’s Sanur Beach because it hadn’t reached the tourist fever pitch of Kuta.

We sat sipping coconut water, enjoying the last few days of our holiday. We visited Mengwi temple and a bat cave near Pura Goa Lawah on the central east coast. While thousands of bats hung from the cave’s ceiling, I was mesmerized by a lizard unsuccessfully trying to catch a batty meal.

During that day, we met a couple from Sumatra who put the germ of an idea in my head of visiting Indonesia’s big island. But that had to wait for another year.
