I ferried across Georgia Straight, meandering through smaller islands to Vancouver Island’s biggest city, Victoria. Tucked away in a corner of this relaxing city, was Chinatown, one short street that included a Chinese school as well as a grand entrance.

I wanted to go there because I’d read a book that mentioned the mysterious Fan Tan Alley. Unfortunately, that era had ended, or perhaps the author used her poetic licence by describing dangerous strangers lurking in the passageway to draw me over from the mainland, curious to see this for myself.

Grand entrance indeed ! Very attractive !
