I walked to Moosehide Slide, visible from most parts of town. A First Nation legend, attached to the site stated the Han were attacked by a tribe from the south. While the Han were at the top of the hill and the southern tribe at the bottom, a Han member chopped down a tree, causing the landslide that killed the southern tribe below.
From the slide, I circled round the trail that skirted the city through beautiful forest and came to a graveyard. I’d wondered about the Chinese presence during the gold rush era, but all I discovered was one grave that I have a feeling might be Japanese. Perhaps you know.

Wow, the slide looks almost fresh. But it must have happened many years ago.

Something about the grave looks beautiful, the inscriptions are neat and all that green makes it look serene 🙂
