The Pacific Ocean beamed from Hawkes Bay; Napier’s view of the world. The country town, completely destroyed by an earthquake in the 1930s, now boasted buildings constructed in the sheik decadent Art Deco style.

The town was elegant from its shop fronts to its cinema. I couldn’t stop clicking photograph after photograph of the beautifully maintained buildings.
