A friend suggested we drive south over the boarder into the States for a late summer trip before it was time to head back to work. I jumped at the opportunity thinking we’d fit in some beach time and a swim in the surf. We left sweltering thirty degree Vancouver and skipped through Seattle to Long Beach.

It was easy to see how the coastal town got its name. The beach stretched in both directions where Pacific waves pounded the white sand. However, the temperature had dropped from that perfect beach temperature to sweater weather. I guess the exposure to the Pacific Ocean meant that this place was never really warm enough (at least for me).
