All along the highway to Elliston, garden plots dotted the side of the road. This was where locals grew their summer vegetables. Wouldn’t people stop and steal their crops? No, I was told. No one had experience this kind of theft according to locals.

I was on my way to see puffins but got side tracked by root cellars. This was where an earlier generation once stored their food; their outdoor refrigerator. This couldn’t have been fun in winter having to traipse outdoors to collect vegetables and whatever else they stored in them.
