Apart from temples carved into the rock, the main heritage site contained natural beauty beyond the seventh century relics.

The boulders scattered over the heritage site were impressive. From the top I spied boys playing cricket in the distance. Just beyond the fenced enclosure stood a lily pond where boys bathed while women washed clothes.

Trees shaded some of the walkways while palmyra palms stretched towards the blue sky reminding me of Jaffna.
