Te Wairoa Falls Trail

Inside Te Wairoa’s buried village, was a trail that followed Tarawera River to the falls with approximately one hundred steps down to the bottom.

The falls dropped some eighty metres before continuing down through the valley towards Lake Tarawera. This was the route once used by Maori guides who led tourists to the Terraces back in the 1800s.
