Heliconia Walk

According to the sign in Singapore’s Botanic Gardens, Heliconias were related to both ginger and banana plants. The leaves were alike, but that was where their similarity ended.

I was enchanted by the plant’s flowers. First they appeared like a flock of birds joined together until they matured into something resembling a necklace. I’d never seen anything like this tropical plant before.

  1. As far as I can remember, my fascination toward Heliconias started when I was very young. To my kid’s eyes, they looked so bizarre yet beautiful.
