The Coromandel Coast’s Kuaotunu Reserve fringed the beach on the southern edge of Whangapoua. A grove of pohutukawa trees were bent and twisted from years of extreme weather conditions.
These trees, believed to last a thousand years, have survived strong winds, fierce storms and salt spray from the Pacific Ocean.
It is impressive how they can survive for long time!
