Singapore’s National Art Gallery

Sharing half of the building with the Supreme Court, the art gallery was a disappointment. While housed in a grand and well-maintained building, locating the art itself, was like wandering through a rabbit warren.

Fishing Valley by Cheong Soo Pieng

Paintings depicting earlier life were displayed in one section and made up the majority of the art. On a different level in one corner were contemporary Chinese paintings. While in another corner I located modern kinetic art that I nearly missed.

Fishing Village at Kukup by Lim Cheng Hoe

This was not a user-friendly gallery nor was the majority of the art worth more than a quick glance.
