The Elbow River Pathway shadowed Glenmore Reservoir. When I ventured around the next bend a lure teased me from below. Like bends that tell me, just see what’s around the next corner, far below I caught sight of a bridge. I had to venture down the path through bare silver birth and snow covered ground to reach the walkway that crossed the frozen Elbow River.
Warnings about coyote were posted along the path, but I only spotted a black-billed magpie and heard a sparrow. Nor did these signs worry me. The path was never empty of other hikers because the sky was clear and the temperature had risen by more than twenty degrees, although it was still below zero.
