Capilano River Regional Park

North Vancouver’s Capilano Suspension Bridge is a favourite tourist location, but we headed to Capilano River Regional Park where we didn’t have to pay a hefty $40 plus fee to walk over a bridge and through the forest.

Beginning at Cleveland Dam we hiked downhill along the Paisades Trail heading as close as possible to the Capilano River. Giant Douglas firs towered over us. These centuries old trees had survived fires, storms, insect attacks and loggers. Today they’re protected against loggers but nothing can protect these sentinels from natural disasters.
