Before I moved to Canada, I had never heard of curling. What was this crazy sport that Canadians were fascinated with?
I can only compare it to lawn bowls that was played outdoors in Australia by mostly retired people. But instead of rolling a ball across green grass to get as close to kitty as possible, a stone slid over ice. More fascinating was the team members who swept in front of the moving stone with rapid movements to smooth a path to the target at the opposite end of the ice rink.
I tried this sport once and while it was fun playing with my work colleagues, the sport left me wondering why it was so popular (and still does).
