This Buddhist temple was set in quiet grounds in Kyoto’s Arashiyama district. The site was once a mountain villa, but was later converted into Seiryo-ji Temple.
Although there were a number of temples within Arashiyama’s precinct, this was the only one I entered. It was free and surprisingly quiet. Its gardens were well maintained and the buildings typical of those I had already visited.
