We were on our way to JC Slaughter Falls, but already unsure if we’d see any water tumbling over rocks because the East Ithaca Creek was only a puddle here and there. Still, we were hopeful of a hike through Brisbane’s Mt Cootha’s forest and we weren’t disappointed.

The trail veered up a gentle slope following the creek bed where pebbles and rock formations were interspersed with greenery. As expected, there was no water cascading over rocks, but the site of the falls was filled with giant boulders and there was still the next circuit to complete.
