Anping tree house

This haunting house reminded me of a setting for a horror movie. While I believe banyan trees to be the most unique trees, the way they had crept over and into this house was ominous and fascinating at the same time.

Inside Anping tree house

In ancient times it was believed that banyan trees contained inferior wood so they were left to thrive. They were regarded as old guardian angels because of the shade and the roots that looked like an old man’s beard.

There were walkways at ground level through the house as well as steps to climb where I could see the roof of the house that in some places was covered in a network of roots. I kept retracting my route through this living house discovering more roots and hidden steps.
