A local gem

In Canada it seems we’ve been unable to shake off continuing cases of coved#19 and recently restaurants were closed again to dining customers in my province. Because businesses can only cater to takeout orders, locals have posted requests to support our restaurants. We don’t want to arrive at the end of these strange times and learn our favourite restaurants have shut down.

I feel privileged to have Indian, Thai, Japanese, Korean, Iranian and Vietnamese restaurants to choose from — most within walking distance.

Two types of baklava I can’t resist

Iranian Urban Café once had a large dining area in one section and a specialty supermarket at the other end until early 2020. Now the entire store is a supermarket where pasta made from chickpeas, hummus and feta cheeses can be found — items not available in regular stores.

While takeout food is still available, my favourite go to section is the bakery. The minute I enter the store, the aroma of baked breads and pastries draw me to the counter where enticing treats are displayed.
