Most people who travel to India catch one of those bugs where they can’t leave the washroom for days, but the bug I caught was the stainless steel kind.
In an Indian kitchen or restaurant, I caught my reflection from every corner in tiffins, tali plates, jugs, cups, ladles — all made from stainless steel. Using the variety of containers available with lids there was no need for plastic wrap or foil.
Sadly, on my most recent visit to India, I entered a stainless steel store that had filled half of its shelves with plastic containers. I searched for a shop that sold nothing but stainless steel before I made yet another purchase for what fills an entire shelf in my kitchen cupboard.
