Five buses around Penang

Sometimes too much travel can make you blasé. From a letter I wrote to my sister about Penang, I feel like I must have climbed to that point because the Snake Temple didn’t impress me. There was “only six snakes” and they were “only a metre long.” How spoilt, I must have become as if I’d already seen too many temples.

That day we bus hopped around the island, through coconut estates, over mountains, through kilometres of rubber plantations and a waterfall until we arrived back at the coast. At least this part of the day I seem to be more impressed by. We’d taken five different buses and enjoyed the cooler mountain air that in some spots was ten degrees cooler.
