Cathedral Cove

The Coromandel Coast’s most favoured beach was Cathedral Cove. Hoards of people flocked there to stand near its gigantic arch that connected it to Mare’s Log Cove for a photo or three. Others swam out to the stack off Mare’s Log Cove to dive into the chilly water.

Phong Nha Cave

From Phong Nha, I took a boat ride up the Son River. The river flows from Laos and during the wet season, the deep green changes to red; thus the name translated means lipstick.

Another loss before reaching Niah National Park

Have you heard of bird nest soup? If you have, you might know its connection to Niah National Park, my sole reason for pinpointing Sarawak as my destination choice for a holiday.

Bako Blunder

I bused towards Bako National Park, thirty-seven kilometres from Kuching, leaving the city behind. The road went as far as Kampong Bako. After that I took a half hour boat ride up river to the park. The driver steered the small craft through waters surrounded by beautiful rock formations and wild vegetation.
