A local gem

In Canada it seems we’ve been unable to shake off continuing cases of coved#19 and recently restaurants were closed again to dining customers in my province. Because businesses can only cater to takeout orders, locals have posted requests to support our restaurants. We don’t want to arrive at the end of these strange times and learn our favourite restaurants have shut down.

Hukuisu restaurant’s past

Behind the former Tainan weather observatory were beautifully restored buildings surrounded by a Japanese garden. I removed my shoes and stepped over thick wooden boards into what was once a famous Japanese restaurant during the Japanese colonial period.

Among the paper barks at Indiscapes

Located just out of Brisbane in the Redlands area, the bushland setting housed a restaurant. I walked towards the building through paper barks, a tree often used in artwork. Some artists created an entire picture using the outer layer from these trees. Left alone, they are one of my favourite native trees. Continue reading Among the paper barks at Indiscapes
